Biography

Sim Tze Tzin (Chinese: 沈志勤; born 6 February 1976) is a Malaysian politician and engineer from Penang. He has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bayan Baru since May 2013 and, since 17 December 2025, as the Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim [1][2]. He also serves as Political Secretary to the PKR President since April 2024 [1]. Born in George Town, Penang, Sim received his primary education at Hu Yew Seah School and secondary at Chung Ling High School. He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1999, and subsequently obtained a Master of Science (Civil) in Highway Engineering from San José State University while working as a highway design engineer in California from 2001 to 2006 [1].
