莫哈末沙布（Mohamad bin Sabu），人称"阿沙布"（Mat Sabu），1954年10月14日生于槟城打昔古鲁（Tasek Gelugor）[1]。他曾就读于武吉默达占国民中学，后入读玛拉工艺学院（即现今的玛拉工艺大学，UiTM）修读食品科技文凭，惟未完成学业[1]。1975年，他加入马来西亚伊斯兰青年运动（ABIM），开启政治生涯；1981年转投伊斯兰党[1]。此后，他先后以伊党旗帜出战，分别担任尼兰布里（1990—1995年）、古邦格里安（1995—1999年）及瓜拉吉打（1999—2004年）国会议员[2]。2011年至2015年间，他出任伊党副主席[1]。2015年党选，他与一批被称为"G18"的开明派领袖同遭出局，随后联合创立"新希望运动"，该运动其后改组为诚信党（诚信党），他出任首任主席[1]。2018年第14届全国大选（GE14），他以71,142票多数当选希盟国会议员，代表八打灵再也的哥打拉惹选区，并获时任首相马哈迪委任为国防部长[3]。他自2018年5月起出任国防部长，至2020年2月希盟政府垮台为止[1]。2022年第15届全国大选（GE15），他以73,998票蝉联哥打拉惹议席，随后获首相安华委任为团结政府农业及粮食安全部长[4]。他持有拿督斯里勋衔[5]。
